Peru Coffee Farm

The Asociacion de Productores Cafetaleros Juan Marco El Palto — known simply as El Palto, or JUMARP — began in 2003 with just 35 smallholder farmers in the Amazonian Andes of northern Peru. Today, the cooperative counts 189 members farming approximately 550 hectares of organic coffee in the Amazonas region. Forty of those members are women, represented on the cooperative’s Board of Directors alongside their male counterparts. The mission has remained unchanged since the beginning: increase production and profitability in specialty coffee to improve each member family’s income.

Coffee is grown at 1,600–1,800 meters on the steep slopes of the Amazonian Andes, where altitude and cloud cover slow cherry development and concentrate flavor. The Typica, Castillo, Bourbon, and Catimor varieties are fully washed and carefully prepared to Grade 1, SHG (Strictly High Grown), and EP (European Preparation) standards — reflecting the cooperative’s commitment to quality at every step from harvest to export.

The result is a medium roast with medium acidity, a smooth body, and notes of lemon, herbal, and chocolate — clean, balanced, and grown with purpose.
