Smuggler's Notch Reserve (Whiskey Barrel Aged)
For centuries, Smuggler's Notch was Vermont's most secretive passage — a narrow mountain route used to move contraband through the dark, including whiskey during Prohibition. This coffee knows that history. Single-origin beans from 400 smallholder farmers in the highlands of Huehuetenango, Guatemala — grown at 1,800–2,000 meters in clay mineral soil — fully washed, sun and mechanically dried, then aged a minimum of 30 days in a whiskey barrel before being roasted to order. The result is a medium roast with tasting notes of lemon, lime, nougat, and brown sugar, deepened by a rich, unmistakable barrel character. Some things are worth the detour.
